Wexford Supermarket Recognized as SuperValu Store of the Year

Pettitt’s SuperValu St Aidans in Wexford proudly returned home with the prestigious title of Store of the Year after a triumphant win at the National SuperValu Conference in Killarney. The store, which recently underwent significant renovations, not only secured the Large Store of the Year category but also clinched the top honor.

Competing against nine other finalists at the Great Southern Hotel, Pettitt’s impressed judges, including retail consultant Paul Ellison, with its outstanding offerings. The store was particularly recognized for its excellence in bakery, kitchen, cook at home, and florist services. Additionally, Pettitt’s commitment to the local community through partnerships with Wexford’s senior hurling and football teams garnered praise.

The store’s dedication to sustainability was highlighted, with notable achievements such as a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions following the installation of new refrigeration units and solar panels during the recent renovations.

Expressing his delight, Cormac Pettitt praised the exceptional team at St. Aidan’s store for their hard work and dedication. He emphasized the store’s commitment to providing customers with a superior shopping experience and acknowledged the longstanding loyalty of its 160 employees, 21 of whom have served for more than two decades.

SuperValu Managing Director Ian Allen commended the Wexford store for its leadership in sustainability, innovative product range, and support for local suppliers and the community at large.The recent refurbishment also led to significant sustainability gains, including a remarkable 60% decrease in CO2 emissions, attributed to the installation of modern refrigeration units and solar energy initiatives.
