Seven New Companies Open in the Stratford Region

The companies took part in the Starter Company Plus program.

According to a press statement released today by the Stratford Perth Centre for Business, seven new enterprises have sprung up in Stratford and the surrounding areas thanks to funding from the Starter Company Plus Program.
The Ontario government funds this initiative, which benefits business owners in Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County. The seven accepted applicants for this year’s fall session received five weeks of business planning instruction in February and March, with a focus on cash flow, operations, marketing, and company planning. The course was completed, and graduates were given a $5,000 reward.

“Aside from the structured learning The Starter Company Plus program offers, there is also the unique experience of participating the entrepreneurial community,” said Holly Mortimer, Business Advisor, Stratford Perth Centre for Business in the news release. “This is extremely important and creates a new kind of enrichment they navigate the 5 weeks course material together and rely, not only on the program instructors but also on each other. Becoming an entrepreneur can be a lonely experience and the sense of support and community created within the 4 weeks last as a peer networking group for many long after the program concludes.”

Applications for the upcoming startup company round are already closed, however they will reopen in late August 2024.

Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County entrepreneurs are the target audience for the Starter Company Plus program, which is backed by the province, and the Stratford Perth Centre for Business today announced the opening of seven new local businesses under its auspices. The Starter Company Plus program, which is administered by the Stratford Perth Centre for Business and is supported by the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade and the Province of Ontario, is offered in two cohorts per year. Seven selected candidates received five weeks of business planning training in February and March during this year’s fall session, with an emphasis on cash flow, operations, marketing, and company planning.

The course was completed, and graduates were given a $5,000 reward. To assist their aspirations of starting their own business, the Stratford Perth Centre for Business, a division of invest Stratford, offered mentorship through a hybrid training and mentorship program with one-on-one coaching.
