The latest in the beverage company’s massive investment ambitions for Cork.
PepsiCo is to expand operations in Cork, with plans to increase manufacturing and warehousing capacity at its Little Island facility. PepsiCo has filed for planning approval to add four stories to an existing manufacturing and warehousing complex. The project will add 12,207 sqm of floor area across four storeys.

It’s the latest step in the beverage giant’s massive investment plans for the Cork location.
Last year, the billion-dollar beverage company completed a €127 million expansion of its R&D facility in Little Island. Months later, it announced another €39 million expansion for its Irish facility to meet rising business demand.

The company, which creates concentrates for major beverage brands such as Pepsi, 7Up, and Mountain Dew, now employs over 1,250 people in Ireland. Over 640 people work on-site in Cork.
PepsiCo is commemorating its 50th anniversary in Cork this year. In 1974, it launched its first concentrate manufacturing factory on Little Island, with only 30 people.

The most recent planning decision is in the pre-validation stage before Cork County Council. The verdict from the planning department is due before the end of next month.

This fresh cash injection comes after a €127 million investment in the same location and its adjacent research and development facilities earlier this year.

The investment will be used to establish a large solar PV solar panel system at the plant, which will dramatically reduce the amount of power utilized on site. The installation is planned to be completed before the end of the year.

The company launched its presence in Ireland 50 years ago and now employs over 2,500 people. However, the corporation is attempting to hire more despite a tight labor market and a persistent skills deficit. The company that makes Pepsi and 7Up drinks said it presently has about 100 job openings in Cork.
