Addressing Mental Health
After two years of R&D and a €600K pre-seed fundraising round, the women’s health firm Mabel, based in Paris, has been launched. The company employs supplements made from mushrooms and micro-dosing programs to address the mental health of women. The initiative comes in response to recent mental health data that indicates 17% of women take antidepressants, 24% experience anxiety, 19% have other mental health conditions, and 40% experience burnout.
The company’s primary product is the Mindful Micro-dosing Program, which gives users access to the Mabel app and a five-week supply of psilocybin truffles from the Netherlands. Along with journaling tools and purpose guides, the app features seminars and exercises designed by Dr. Shauna Shapiro, a psychologist and mindfulness specialist headquartered in California.
Modern App to Support Women
According to Pernille Brostrup, founder of Mabel, “psilocybin has the potential to change the way we approach mental health, providing relief where traditional treatments often fall short.” “Our program is revolutionary for the mental health of women.”
Additionally, the business has created two non-psychedelic products: liquid mixtures of beneficial mushrooms called Morning Manna and Midnight Manna. While Midnight Manna employs Reishi and Chaga mushrooms for relaxation and renewal, Morning Manna contains Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps mushrooms for vitality and cognition. Jacques-Antoine Granjon (Veepee), Bertrand Letartre (Anios), and Reza Malakadesh (Partech & French Tech San Francisco) invested in the pre-seed funding round.
Pernille Brostrup continues, “The revival of fungi, and especially psilocybin, is nothing short of remarkable.” Their potential reflects the most encouraging developments in mental health during the previous three decades. Women, in our opinion, are prepared to receive relief and recover their innate strength and vitality. We are ecstatic to have this chance to improve the lives of women.
“With Mabel, we hope to democratize the knowledge of mushrooms and their promising potential for women’s (and men’s) well-being,” says Caroline Brostrup, co-founder and former marketing professional. As a source of knowledge on how we might exercise agency in our own journey toward well-being, we wish to be included in the story.
Long Road Ahead
Dr. Amir Lotfi, an internal neuroscientist, is part of the company’s development team and created the methods and dosage recommendations for the microdosing program.
The psychedelics industry is anticipated to rise from $4.9 billion to $11.8 billion by 2029, while the mental health market is anticipated to grow by 36% to reach $526.21 billion by 2030, according to market forecasts quoted by Mabel.
