Alan Durcan Named as the Director of Distribution for Retail Ireland at Bank of Ireland

Alan Durcan has assumed the position of Director of Distribution Channels for Bank of Ireland’s retail division in Ireland. In this role, he will oversee the bank’s extensive network of 169 branches, which employs over 1,600 staff members. Durcan, who hails from Mayo, brings a wealth of experience to this position, having served in various roles within the bank since joining in 2008, including Regional Director for Connaught Ulster. He holds a degree in Business Information Systems from NUI Galway and a Master of Sciences in Financial Services from University College Dublin and the Institute of Bankers.

Durcan will oversee the operations of the company’s branch network and its more than 1,600 staff, both in physical branches and among remote workers. Susan Russell, Chief Executive of BOI Retail Ireland, expressed her satisfaction in announcing Durcan’s appointment, highlighting the crucial role of their distribution channels, which encompass 169 branches nationwide and serve numerous customers daily. Russell emphasized that Durcan and his team will play a central role in ensuring the bank’s presence when customers require assistance and in supporting their financial well-being. Bank of Ireland‘s recent announcement of a €60 million investment in its branches includes what the company described as its “largest single investment in ATMs in the last decade.”

Durcan will lead the company’s branch network and oversee a team of over 1,600 staff, encompassing both retail and remote workers.
